GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Attorney Generals Office in Casper seeks an attorney to represent the Gaming Commission Pharmacy Board the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission and other licensing boards and commissions in prosecuting licensing and disciplinary matters before administrative tribunals and Wyoming courts. As part of this position you will prepare pleadings motions and briefs; perform discovery; represent boards and commissions in administrative and judicial hearings; participate in negotiations public hearings and client meetings; and represent licensing boards and commissions in cases on appeal to the Wyoming Supreme Court and federal trial and appellate courts. You may also review rules and regulations and review and track legislation to advise the Governor and agency clients. This position will also perform other duties assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the Attorney Generals office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

• The ability to analyze complicated legal and factual issues and present issues clearly in either written or oral form. This position blends strategic counseling and litigation in a multifaceted role. The applicant should feel comfortable speaking before courts and administrative tribunals writing letters and briefs and advocating clients interests.
• Represent the agencies in administrative and court proceedings including the preparation of pleadings motions and briefs; advise clients on cases statutes and rules related to legal duties and responsibilities and provide day-to-day legal advice.
• The ability to work independently work collaboratively with agency staff and work with other members of the Wyoming Attorney Generals section of attorneys and supervisors.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Prior legal experience is preferred but not required. Recent graduates or law clerks are eligible and encouraged to apply. To the extent that you are a recent graduate or are not familiar with these areas of law but you have an interest we encourage you to apply. • Experience in administrative law.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Juris Doctorate.

• Salary is commensurate with relevant legal experience

• This position is at-will and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Attorney General (W.S.).
