Bakery Counter Person

Position Summary

The Bakery Counter Person is responsible for providing warm, knowledgeable service at the bakery counter while maintaining attractive displays, accurate product handling, and efficient guest service.

This role requires hospitality, product knowledge, attention to detail, and care in presenting and packaging bakery items. The Bakery Counter Person helps create a welcoming guest experience while supporting sales, cleanliness, and smooth counter operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Service and Product Sales

· Greet guests warmly and assist with bakery selections, product questions, and recommendations.

· Maintain knowledge of bakery items, ingredients, seasonal offerings, and allergen information.

· Package and serve bakery items accurately and attractively.

· Promote bakery offerings and suggest add-on items when appropriate.

· Handle guest questions, special requests, and concerns professionally.

Counter Operations and Display Standards

· Set up, maintain, and break down bakery displays according to company standards.

· Keep bakery cases full, clean, organized, and visually appealing.

· Rotate products, monitor freshness, and communicate low inventory or quality concerns.

· Process bakery sales through the POS system accurately as assigned.

· Maintain a clean and organized counter, display area, and surrounding guest-facing spaces.

Food Safety and Team Support

· Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergen awareness, and workplace safety standards.

· Label, handle, store, and rotate bakery products properly.

· Assist with stocking, packaging, side work, and opening or closing responsibilities.

· Work cooperatively with bakery, FOH, and BOH team members.

· Other areas as required by the unique nature of the restaurant and the position.

Qualifications

· Previous bakery, café, retail, or guest service experience preferred.

· Strong hospitality, communication, and product presentation skills.

· Ability to learn menu items, ingredients, and allergen information.

· Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization.

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced guest-facing environment.

· Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

· Food handler certification required where applicable.

Physical and Work Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to bend, reach, package items, and work around bakery cases, hot beverages, and cleaning products.

· Work performed in a restaurant and café environment with varying noise levels, guest traffic, and service pace.
